Stability evidence and shelf-life questions
Shelf-life or retest statements require an appropriate evidence basis.

Shelf-life or retest statements require an appropriate evidence basis.
Define what is being assessed
Stability concerns apply to an identified material, formulation and package. State the quality attributes relevant to the project and the conditions being considered. A date printed on a generated packaging image is not stability evidence and should not be used to set receiving or storage decisions.
Review the scope of the data
Ask whether the evidence applies to the actual formulation, container and proposed conditions. If the design changes, review whether additional work is needed. Formal regulatory programs have their own applicable requirements. A research project should still identify the evidence and assumptions behind its handling guidance.
Review checklist
- Exact formulation and container
- Relevant quality attributes
- Conditions assessed
- Data scope and limitations
- Basis for any date or retest statement
Include this in your enquiry
Send the precise material or project identity, target amount and destination, together with the questions in this checklist. State which requirements are fixed and which need technical review. The team can then confirm the relevant document or development scope. Keep the agreed requirements with the quotation and project reference.

Reference framework: ICH Q1A(R2) describes stability assessment in its stated pharmaceutical regulatory context. Apply the requirements appropriate to the actual material and program.
